What do you get when you mix the sounds of a Balkan guitar ace, a funk-soul ivory songster, a latin-jazz freak-lip trumpeter and a drumming jack-of-all-trades with the hypnotic grooves of a Puerto Rican dance queen? None other than the musical stylings of Mezcolanza. Mezcolanza, meaning "hodgepodge" in Spanish, began as a musical experiment for leading lady Jasmine Quintana. Pianist and singer/songwriter Damian Williams and drummer Daniel Crane readily jumped on board, soon followed by guitarist Nikola Dokic and trumpeter Stephen Wright. With a such an ethnically diverse mix of musicians with a wide range of musical styles, the name Mezcolanza immediately took root.
Mezcolanza's sound is heavily influenced by Brazilian, Caribbean and Latin American rhythms but layers jazz, house and funk melodies to create a lively yet laid-back vibe. Innovative and infectious, Mezcolanza will take you to a whole new musical realm. Let the ritmo move you!
